    How long should a password be?

    For most accounts, 16 characters from all groups is enough. For your password manager, email and banking, 20 or more is better, with two-step sign-in turned on.

    What does strength in bits mean?

    How many attempts it would take to guess it: each bit doubles the number of possibilities. A 16-character password from all groups has about 103 bits, which is beyond the reach of guessing even for the most powerful computers.

    Is it safe to use an online generator?
