Frequently asked questions
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is opened, edited and saved in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so neither we nor anyone else can see the document.
Can I change text that's already in the PDF?
Not directly. Cover the existing text with a white rectangle (“Cover”) and type the new text on top of it (“Text”). For printing and sending, it looks like a corrected document.
Does “Cover” delete data from the document?
No. The covered area can't be seen, even when printed, but the text underneath stays in the file and can be copied or found by searching. That's why covering isn't enough for personal or confidential data. Deleted pages, on the other hand, disappear completely from the new PDF.
How do I move, rotate or delete a page?
Above each page are buttons to move it up and down, rotate it left and right, and delete it. You can bring back a deleted page with “Restore deleted page” until you download the PDF.
How do I add pages from another document?
Choose “Add pages from a PDF” and all the pages of that document are added to the end. Then use the buttons to move them where you need them. For merging whole documents, a simpler tool is Merge PDF.
What isn't carried over into the edited PDF?
Bookmarks (the outline in the sidebar) and fillable form fields. Added text is saved as an image, so it can't be copied or searched.
Why can't I open my PDF?
If the PDF is password-protected or locked against changes, the tool can't edit it. Open it in your browser or a PDF program, print it to a new PDF (“Save as PDF”) and try again.
Need to sign the document?
There's a separate tool for signing: Sign PDF, where you can draw or type your signature or upload it from an image.
